Variations Vortex (Into the Swirling Storm)
violin & piano duo
dedicated to the inspiring imagery of nature and the sustainability of our natural and human environment
Variations Vortex (Into the Swirling Storm) explores variations of the elements of music -- intervals, motives, melody, rhythm, harmony, texture, dynamics, registral spacing, and articulation -- in Rondo form. The image is one of a hurricane, with the music portraying its formation and development, moving into the eerie calm center, the suspended stillness of the vortex of the hurricane, and then spiraling the music out into the swirling storm.
