    DREAMS AND VISIONS (Searching the Shadows) has three movements: I. Allegro spirito (Oboe solo); II. Broody, Tempestuous (Oboe and Piano duo); III. Joyous -- Dance-like (Oboe, Viola, & Piano trio). The three movements are connected in a cyclic manner but can be performed independently. The initial point of inspiration was tarot card readings collaboratively thrown by oboist Jennet Ingle and myself. Nine cards were intuitively selected, then three apportioned for each movement to serve as a formal framework. Each card's metaphorical meaning and visual image are captured in sound, with variations and embellishments along the way.
